I’ve been wasting hours on Terraria (which is an awesome game btw) and here’s the result, my own castle 😀 (click on the image to get a full-size version)
This was all mined and constructed in-game using my trusy Molten Pick-axe, Molten Ham-Axe, Jet-Boots and Ivy Whip. My two boys helped me a bit too, especially on the mining (those blue dungeon bricks are damn tedious to mine!) 😉
If you want to download the Terraria world file, here it is (zipped up for efficiency, make sure you unzip it before using it!):
N.B. Please be careful when copying this world file into your Terraria Worlds folder. Because it’s named WORLD1.WLD it will likely overwrite your own first world file unless you rename it!
Impressive, I think. But the garden really needs a water feature and where is the play room with drum kit, amps and guitars?

Such an impressive build, you definitely have an artistic flair with Terraria. I hope you don’t mind but I grabbed it as my desktop background. Is there any chance you could email your world file, as I tried to mimic your design but mine looks shabby compared to yours? I’d understand if you don’t wish to.
Grats again on yours & your sons hard labour 🙂

hey, thanks for the comments Cuhulainn, you’re more than welcome to use the image for whatever you like, and I’d be happy to share the world file. Rather than email it I’ve just uploaded it to this site, you can find the download link in this post!
Don’t forget though, that this was made in v1.06, before you could overlap background tiles. So what you could do now would be even better, but to achieve this old effect would be harder now than it was!
all the best!

Thanks very much Nathan, I was very happy to see we have the same taste in music & how I aware of the games you’ve worked on. I’m a self taught PC Hardware engineer & have worked for Virgin Megastores, back in the ’80/90’s & came across a number of friends who went on to work for the games industry, both here in UK & USA. It still makes me laugh that most muggles think that all games are produced in the states or far east, & forget about the dev houses here in the UK. Best of luck for the coming year.

Thanks for the castle man. You said that you wasted hours on Terraria. But I don’t think that castle was in anyway a waste of time! Not only does the place have chests, but they full of useful items. You and all involved in the construction, mining and gathering of materials are legends 🙂

I have a question. I’m guessing youve painted your walls to add depth (seems to be a purpleish color). My question is what color did you paint it? when I use purple, it doesnt look anything close to yours. Cheers

Hi Will. I didn’t paint the walls, this was made in an old version of Terraria that didn’t have painting or any of the new block types you have now. The bricks in the walls on my castle here are blue dungeon bricks.
